COVID - 19

Is the new coronavirus a cover-up to hide the dangers of 5G?

Amidst the logical concern and the flood of misinformation about the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, one of the most recurrent conspiracy theories is to link the deployment of 5G, a technology that generates rejection in a large part of the population.

Social Networks

A growing number of conversations on the networks and in confined homes claim that there are insidious links between the deployment of 5G networks and the coronavirus. It's all part of a larger "conspiracy of the century"

Many suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic serves to mask the health hazards of 5G networks, or that the technology itself damages the immune system. Another very popular one, driven by a viral video, suggests that every new installation of new wave systems throughout history has brought epidemics.

Before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was already talk of the effects that 5G could have on people's health and biodiversity, due to these higher frequencies and the type of radiation it emits (millimetre waves), but since the outbreak, talk of 5G has been linked to the new coronavirus and some say it could exacerbate the spread through its frequencies, or damage the immune system.

So 5G is linked to the coronavirus?

The short answer is no.

It is true that at the date level, the deployment of technology coincides with the pandemic, and the crisis situation is paralyzing its deployment.

How to defeat "infodemics"?

"A misperception has arisen in society because of people, who constantly produce conspiracy theories on all subjects and interpret information according to what they want".

Suggestions for defeating disinformation

1

Statements

listen to the statements of governments and official institutions.

2

Social networking

We shouldn't believe everything we see on social networks. We must verify its accuracy and try to understand its purpose.

3

The authorities

The authorities must provide accurate and rapid information. Otherwise, this gap is filled with misinformation from others.

4

Objectivity

People must retain critical thinking in order to value the information on the web.

5G technology is only being developed in some countries and so far, it has not been officially linked to any disease, much less the coronavirus. We are still in 4G and it seems that we will have to wait many months before we make the leap to the next generation. In the meantime, remember to disinfect your cell phone if you went out with it to do the pantry or visit a relative, in the device if there may be residues of bacteria and viruses that can cause various diseases.
